All British Rally 2014
This year’s All-British Rally in Newstead, Victoria, pulled an enviable 1000-plus participants. Run by the BSA Motorcycle Owners Association since 1977, the annual classic bike rally has somehow seemed to defy gravity over the last decade, becoming bigger and attracting a least a couple of generations of enthusiasts.
While classic machinery dominates, there is a smattering of vintage and veteran gear, along with modern.
The event is centred at a racecourse campground in sleepy Newstead, in the Victorian goldfields. It’s a well-chosen venue, with plenty of space, within relatively easy reach of Melbourne while offering a rural setting.
There is a tradition of riding into the nearby township of Maldon for Saturday lunch, for which the town closes off its main street and becomes a giant motorcycle museum.
A major attraction is the gate prize – this year it was a BSA B44 Shooting Star.
Motorcycle Trader magazine is a sponsor of the event – here is our gallery from Maldon.
