The Isle of Man now has two significant motorcycle festivals: the TT being held at the end of May and the new “Classic TT” to be held in August 23 – 26.
The Classic TT will incorporate the Manx GP under the banner, “Isle of Man Festival of Motorcycling” and will feature the great race bikes of the past in a variety of classes. Two of particular interest are the 500cc Classic TT and the Formula 1/Formula 2/Formula Classic race. The first of these will see Manx Nortons on the Mountain Circuit again in the company of MV Agusta, Matchless and AJS machines.
The Formula classes will include early Japanese superbikes, a class of racing with growing popularity in Australia and abroad.
The 2013 event has been massively over-subscribed, suggesting a bright future for the festival.
The best of the modern-day TT riders will be appearing including John McGuinness, Conor Cummins, Michael and William Dunlop, Gary Johnson, New Zealand’s Bruce Anstey and MT’s own Cameron Donald who will contest the 500cc race on a Manx Norton prepared by British ace, Fred Walmsley.
