INDIAN’S CRAZY HORSE
The Chief Dark Horse is the sixth Indian model and the first of the iconic American brand’s line-up for 2016.
Featuring a solo seat, and powered by the same ‘Thunder Stroke 111’ 1811cc air-cooled V-twin as the rest of the Chief range, the Dark Horse is void of flashy chrome with matte black bodywork, fork, handlebars and engine. Even the famous Indian chief head on the front guard is dark.
The Chief’s chrome spoked wheels have also been replaced by darkened cast wheels, with a closed-in rear fender. Indian has also removed the driving lights, analogue fuel gauge and even the oil cooler to give the Dark Horse a striped-down look. The result is the lightest model in the Chief family.
Standard features on the Dark Horse include ABS, keyless ignition and cruise control. A pillion seat and floorboards form part of the extensive accessories range, as does an array of exhausts systems and air filters.
While the first public outing for the new Chief Dark horse was at the famous Daytona Bike Week in Florida, no date has been set for its debut Down Under.
Indian Motorcycle New Zealand and Australia marketing specialist Sophia Nolan said there was still some work to be done before the Dark Horse arrived on local shores.
“While it has been announced in the US market, we are still a fair way from announcing availability, let alone pricing, for Australia and New Zealand,” she said.
“We will have more news to share about Dark Horse once we have more clarity from our colleagues in the United States.”
